Damsel.co.uk was initiated in response to the growing number of attacks on women and vulnerable people reported in the press throughout the UK. Reading about serial rapists and opportunist criminals, coupled with personal experience, moved one individual to seek a personal alarm in 2003. However the difficulty in obtaining one was the driver to create an online shop – hence Damsel.co.uk.
Damsel’s aim is to reduce crime and its personal repercussions by arming the public with a legal defensive distraction. In the medieval sense, we want our alarms to be the ‘knights in shining armour’ and for ‘damsels in distress’ to be a thing of the past.
